Use AI for active learning
Ask for hints, test your explanation and verify generated answers with primary references.
Try first
Attempt the exercise before asking an AI assistant for help. Describe your goal, the approach you tried and the exact point of confusion. Ask for a hint first, so you still make the next decision.
Check understanding
Explain a concept in your own words and ask the assistant to identify a gap or propose a counterexample. Check the response in the official documentation or by running a small experiment.
Practice retrieval
Use generated questions for review, then answer without looking at your notes. Keep questions that reveal a misconception and revisit them after a few days. Remove repetitive questions that only test wording.
Inspect generated solutions
Treat a generated solution as something to inspect. Test edge cases, compare it with the source material and rewrite the explanation yourself. Keep personal information and private project data out of examples unless you have permission to share them.
Move from prompts to evaluated workflows
Once a prompt helps with a repeatable task, prepare examples of success, failure and missing information. Evaluate the output against those examples. Add retrieval or tools only when the task needs them, and measure whether they improve the result.
Keep a human review step
An agent can use tools and take several steps, which introduces new ways to fail. Start with a small, read-only task, inspect its trace and review the result yourself. Re-run your evaluation examples after changing a model, instruction or tool.
